First let’s start with a quick blog update before we dive in! If you haven’t noticed, I’ve started posting every day (except weekends) on here.
I’m super excited to share outfit combinations from my capsule wardrobe, styling tips, and wardrobe building ideas on a daily basis. I hope you are too!
And for a quick capsule/outfit timeline, I’ll be posting outfits from my spring capsule wardrobe for all of May. Then, my plan is to switch over to my summer capsule wardrobe June 1st which I plan to wear through August with no (the goal) to very little shopping.
Ok on to today’s post!
Today let’s talk about denim basics.
I wear jeans a lot. You may have noticed. Are you mainly a jeans person too? They’re so comfortable and easy to style they’ve just become my default/go-to item to put on in the morning.
Although I am trying to branch out into dresses more but that’s a post for another day.
Alright, denim basics. Which jeans do I have in my closet that I find to be the perfect types to have for a minimalist or aspiring minimalist wardrobe?
Here they are (along with the brands and a few sizing tips)!
My Favorite Denim Basics for a Minimalist Wardrobe
Light Wash Jeans
I had only recently added a pair of light wash jeans to my wardrobe this past fall and am so happy I did. They’re perfect for spring and summer but also look great with darker colors for fall and winter.
The ones I’m wearing here are the Everlane Cheeky denim. I usually size down at Everlane. I’m usually anywhere from a 0 to a 4 at stores and here I’m a 0 or a 26 in denim. They fit very snug in the waist at first but loosen up. The butt/thigh area is looser than the waist which gives them a nice relaxed vibe.
Wide Leg Jeans
Wide leg jeans are another style I recently added and now can’t imagine a denim wardrobe without them. They add such a relaxed yet chic vibe to any outfit.
The ones I’m wearing here are from Madewell. They’re the slimmer version of the regular wide leg crop. Which, just looked way too wide for my frame. So I went with this slimmer leg cut and they’re perfectly wide leg.
Madewell jeans run really large on me. These are really stretchy and do stretch out after a few wears. I could probably even size down two sizes to a 25 but went with a 26 and they still fit great.
Dark Wash Denim/Straight Leg Jeans
Okay this one I’m counting as two because I find one of each style to be a denim basic but they don’t necessarily have to be one in the same.
I have a pair of the skinny dark wash jeans shown in the picture here and a looser pair of dark wash jeans from Re/Done. I like having a skinny style as well as a straight leg. But you could combine this category into one!
