Today is a Friday better than others because it’s the Friday before a long weekend. My husband Kyle and I are staying in the city instead of heading off somewhere. We travelled so much before the wedding going back and forth between New York and D.C. that we savor any opportunities we have to stay in the city and enjoy life here.
I especially like being in New York City once the weather warms up. Summer is probably my favorite season here. That’s probably an unpopular opinion but summer really is my favorite season in New York. The city empties, roof tops open, and the parks are so nice to spend time in.
I still love escaping to the beach on weekends or heading dow to see family in Maryland or Virginia, but I do savor opportunities to have city barbecues, hang out at breweries, and explore new places downtown in the warm weather.
Which, gets me to the main point of this article. This warm weather and summer planning has me thinking of summer wardrobe staples. What warm weather go-to items do I want to have to wear during summer adventures, or work, or travel?
One of these is absolutely a striped t-shirt.
A striped shirt in general is a wardrobe staple for me. A long sleeve in fall/winter and short sleeve or tank for warmer temps. I recently received the one I’m wearing here from Tradlands and it’s instantly been a go-to top. It’s been making a weekly outfit appearance for work.

It’s not see-through or too light. It has an amazing weight and softness to it. I’m wearing an XS here and it fits perfectly for how I like my shirts to fit.
If a striped t-shirt is a closet staple for you or one you want to add, I highly recommend this one!
