It’s easy to overthink simple outfits. I do it all the time. It’s also easy to forget what we own and wear the same things over and over. I also have a tiny weirdly shaped closet that makes it hard to access my clothing so that doesn’t help either.
I noticed lately I’ve been sticking to the same clothes for work everyday. A total style rut. It’s never intentional and mostly out of a combination of convenience and laziness. I hate to say lazy though because it is nice to have somewhat of a weekly uniform. The only issue I have is that I start to feel bored with what I’m wearing after wearing something similar for a few days. I start to feel unstylish and bored with my clothes. Even though I have plenty of other clothes I love.
So what do you do when this happens? When you start to feel dissatisfied with your closet and feel uncreative with your daily choices.
Let’s go over what to do when you’re in a stye rut! Here’s what I did recently that helped fix mine:
| Put all your clothes on your bed and write down as many different outfit combinations you see
I did this the other day after trying to think of outfit combinations but not being able to remember all of my clothes. I don’t keep a full list of all my clothes (this is on my list of things to do to make life easier) so I decided I should just put them all out in front of me.
It gave me such a great visual of everything I own. I could look at a bottom and visualize all the shirts I want to wear with it. Same with shoes (not on my bed but on the floor next to my bed). I wrote everything down and now have a list of outfit combinations to choose from in the morning!
