Fall Mood Board
It’s that time of year again. The feeling of summer wrapping up, school starting, and the weather beginning to cool. Even though I haven’t been in school for a few years, the feeling of back to school season never escapes me. A feeling of summer activities coming to an end and a time to get back to routine. It also has me excited to start prepping for fall weather and fall outfits.
I always get so enthusiastic about fall clothing. Plaid, denim, tights, wool, leather loafers and oxfords. Some of my favorite wardrobe items. Although I can’t help but mourn summer coming to an end, I do welcome the excitement that comes from the stark contrast in summer to fall colors and fabrics.
I plan to make a nice transition into September with wool shorts and denim paired with white t-shirts. For my mood board, I tried to represent this transition. Of mixing shorts with sweaters (a favorite combo) and jeans with short sleeves. The reds and oranges of the city also serve as an inspiration to the colors in my fall wardrobe. Moving from pastels and airy clothing to warmer hues and thicker fabrics. I’m also hoping to share these outfits with a city backdrop mixed in with my regular apartment white wall backdrop for photos.
I tried to represent my color palette accurately in my mood board. When I look at this collage of images, I wanted to feel inspired to wear the colors from my determined fall palette. I’m keeping my blue, navy, and white items from the summer months to transition into September and October while mixing in hunter and olive greens along with warm oranges and subtle browns.
Setting my color palette also helps me decided what to add to my wardrobe. I picture dark denim, brown and green wool trousers, grey blazers, navy sweaters, and brown loafers. I own quite a few of these already but do plan to add a couple items to my closet for fall that I can wear to work every week.
Fall Ready Outfit
While I was creating my mood board I found an outfit that I absolutely wanted to replicate this fall. So I created in the meantime to share! I’m a big fan of denim on denim. I thought to pair this combination with this amazing Equal uprise hat I got this summer and my Madewell oxfords which will 100% be in my capsule wardrobe. I also love the light denim pants paired with a matching denim top for a lighter look to wear in September and October. Having a few different shades of denim always helps my closet feel more versatile.
