I remember just over a year ago when I really began to notice wide leg pants starting to pop up on Pinterest and Instagram. An effortlessly stylish silhouette of pants that seemed to make any outfit so chic. I immediately wanted a pair and that’s when my hunt for the perfect pair began.
I remember seeing the perfect style consisting of an ultra high waist, tight around the waist, then large, loose flowing legs ending ankle length. I wanted that exact combination.
I first found the Everlane wide leg crop pants. A pair at an affordable price and a comfortable chic silhouette. But then I found the perfect pair. A brand I hadn’t heard of before and already had a cult like following on Instagram: Jess Kamm pants.
Jesse Kamm pants come in multiple different colors and fabrics. But, starting at $395, they aren’t exactly a pair of pants (at least for me) that I’m going to just go out and buy. So, for about a year, I had a pair on my wardrobe wish list. This fall, I decided to finally put a large portion of my seasonal clothing budget to a pair of these pants. Hoping they’d be as perfect and frequently worn as I imagined. They are.
Jesse Kamm Pant Sizing
Besides choosing which color to get, deciding the best size was difficult. I followed the measurements listed for the pants and bought a 2 which matched my exact measurements.
When they arrived I tried them on and could only button the first button on the fly. So, had to return them. If you buy from the Jesse Kamm site, you have only three days to email and submit your return. I sized up and ordered the 4 this time.
Thankfully, the 4 fit but on the slightly too big size. But once I washed and dried them, they fit perfectly. They did shrink in the drier and then stretched slightly once wearing but not to the original bagginess. I will probably still have them tailored to fit a little bit better.
My advice for sizing: if you’re in between sizes, size up and have them tailored.
Jesse Kamm Pant vs. Everlane Wide Leg Crop
I find the Everlane wide leg crops and jeans to be a reasonable alternative to the Jesse Kamm wide leg pants. But how do they compare?
$68 (Everlane) vs $395 (Jesse Kamm)
Really not much competition when it comes to price. The fit and style is what sold me on spending the money on a pair of Kamm pants.
Jesse Kamm pants have a much higher rise. Going up way above my belly button compared to Everlane’s which are just under. Kamm pants have a wider leg and at 5’6″ are not cropped for me. If you’re shorter, you will probably need to hem them. The Everlane pants have a shorter inseam and come cropped.
The material on Kamm pants is also stiffer and heavier.
As mentioned above, if you’re in between sizes, size up. I’m a 0/2 at Everlane and a 4 at Jesse Kamm.
Are They Worth It?
Overall, I’m so happy I finally made the decision to buy these pants. They’re just so effortlessly chic and easy to style. Whatever shirt or shoes I pair them with, I always feel so incredibly stylish. And there’s nothing better than being able to create a super stylish feeling outfit with minimal time or effort.
I knew that I liked these pants enough to wear them all the time for years which helped me to justify the price. I’d personally rather pay extra for a style I absolutely love than something I kind of like.
