Summer wardrobe planning is currently in full force right now! I’ve been working on putting together my summer capsule wardrobe by going through what I want to use from my core wardrobe and what I want to add.
A lot of the planning so far has been focused on finding inspirational images that will help shape my wardrobe and guide what I end up buying.
So, today, I wanted to share a quick post with you all about:
- My summer capsule wardrobe mood board
- Specific styles I want to include in my summer capsule wardrobe
- A few items I have my eyes on
- My summer capsule color palette
Summer Capsule Wardrobe Mood Board
Some common themes from my mood board are:
- Loose and wide leg pants
- Simple and feminine shoes
- Black with white
- Short sleeve button ups and sleeveless tanks
- Florals in pastel shades.
Other trends that I really love for summer that aren’t shown in this mood board:
- High waisted loose shorts
- Floral peasant blouses
- White romantic tops
I love putting together mood boards because it helps you analyze and define what it is that’s inspiring your fashion sense. Which then helps you make a list of the different styles you want to wear to find the things you may want to add to your wardrobe.
What I’m Looking to Add to My Summer Wardrobe
So, I mostly have the core of my summer wardrobe ready to go. I’ll be adding a few things that I don’t currently have that I’d like to wear all summer and also into fall. Especially if I buy it new.
I’ll be focused on trying to thrift most of these but if I do buy new, I’ve linked the ones I have my eyes!
Khaki wide leg pants | I really have my eyes on the Jesse Kamm version of these. But the Everlane ones I linked are a great comparison and a much more realistic price.
High waisted shorts | High waisted shorts I’ll probably thrift a pair or try out the pair I linked here.
Floral blouse | Doen has the most beautiful floral blouses and dresses. They are on the expensive side but if you’re looking to spend a bit more, they’re definitely beautiful closet additions.
Espadrille wedges | I’ve had my eyes on these for months. They’re absolutely timeless and this brand specifically has been worn by many a classic style icon. The perfect addition to a simple summer outfit.
Romantic top | The one I linked here is also Doen but I’m finding it also pretty easy to find thrifted romantic tops on sites like ThredUp and Etsy.
My Summer Capsule Color Palette
Navy, green, pink, light blue, black, and cream/white are my summer capsule colors.
I’m feeling my style becoming much more colorful than it usually is. I’m much more drawn to bright pinks and greens then I have been in years.
I can also feel my style becoming more refined. Being drawn to crisp all black or black and white outfits.
Okay this post turned out way longer than I was planning! But I hope you all find seeing my quick summer capsule wardrobe mood board helpful.
I can’t wait to share my put together summer capsule wardrobe. I’m hoping to have it ready to share at the end of May!
