In my opinion, you can’t achieve greater simplicity than a pair of blue jeans worn with a white t-shirt.
It’s an incredibly classic yet simple look that can fit any personal style.
So why did it feel so hard to wear?
As I put on this outfit, an outfit that I don’t wear extremely often, I felt insecure. This outfit felt so incredibly bare bones that I started to nitpick every part of my jeans and shirt that I didn’t like.
I felt uncomfortable and exposed. It’s an outfit you can’t hide behind. And I don’t mean that in a sense of if it’s flattering on you or whatever. I don’t think that flattering really matters. What matters, I think, is making sure you feel comfortable in it.
That’s why I don’t wear this outfit as often as I want to. I never felt comfortable until recently.
For whatever reason, I thought I looked bad in the t-shirt or it was too casual or everything was too tight or too loose.
When I wore this outfit this past week, I felt great. I’m assuming that’s because I like the cut, fit, and style of these two items in my wardrobe and it works for my personal style.
So I decided to include two different white shirts in today’s post: a fitted stretch fabric and a looser pocket tee. Deciding which one I liked better was tough so I’m including both in today’s post.
Maybe I’m way over thinking a simple blue jeans white shirt outfit, I probably am. But, I will say, I love that an outfit doesn’t get more simple than this and I’m happy I’m adding it to my rotation of regular outfits. All I have to do is not find fault in how things fit when I do.
So tell me, do you ever feel uncomfortable in even the simplest outfits? Would love to hear your thoughts/experiences in the comments below!
