This past Friday I drove up to Boston with my husband from NYC to spend the weekend with some good friends. We left in the afternoon hoping to beat rush hour only for the drive to end up taking around six hours. But hey, it could be worse!
When we arrived, we immediately went to our dinner reservations making it just in time with only a few minutes to spare. We ate at Bondir in Cambridge which offers an amazing delicious prix fixe menu with a variety of different flavors. I’m a sucker for a farm to table rustic theme so loved the decor and overall ambiance of the restaurant. We then popped across the street to Lamplighter brewery for a few tasty beers before calling it a night and heading back to our friend’s apartment.
I’ve been to Boston quite a few times. So, we weren’t there to really site see or explore different tourist spots. So, on Saturday, we decided to take a day trip out of the city to Duxbury, MA. A quintessential New England town fully equipped with charming (and large) homes and an amazing ocean view.
Our destination in Duxbury was the Island Creek Oyster raw bar. While there, we consumed large amounts of oysters, try caviar for the first time, and drink IPA’s. The weather was unbelievably beautiful. I gauge that based on the fact I was able to wear a denim button down with denim shorts. Not to mention, while sitting in the sun and still being the perfect temperature.
After a wonderful and hard to beat Saturday, Sunday we decided to head back to Cambridge for a long, slow brunch of cinnamon rolls, breakfast sandwiches, and amazing cocktails. We then spent the rest of the afternoon wandering around Harvard and relaxing back at our friend’s place. We ended the trip there and later in the afternoon made the drive back to NYC. It was an amazing trip at the perfect pace and perfect activities.
