Weekend Casual & Wardrobe Decluttering

February 19, 2019Minimalist Wardrobe, Spring Outfits

This weekend I have to say was one of the more relaxing weekends I’ve had in awhile. With the wedding now less than two weeks away, I wanted a slow weekend focused on finishing last minute wedding tasks, decluttering, honeymoon outfit planning, and closet cleaning.

So, today let’s talk about casual weekend outfits and wardrobe decluttering. Two things I spent a lot of the weekend thinking about.

Weekend Casual

This weekend was all about simple and easy. On Friday night, I finally went through my closet and took out all the clothes I hadn’t worn in at least three months. Then, on Saturday, I took all those clothes to Buffalo Exchange to try and make some money. Which, I made $60!

For this task, I wore the outfit featured in this post which was a simple stripe top, flats, and loose fitting jeans. Then, on Sunday I wore simple jeans, a white blouse, and converse for walking to the East  Village to get brunch with friends.

The jeans I wore were a pair that I wasn’t sure if I should include in my sell pile. I ended up keeping them for now with the goal to wear them this week and then make a decision. Which, brings us to the next topic.

Wardrobe Decluttering

My apartment in NYC does not have much storage space. For awhile now, I’ve been wanting to go through the closets and storage containers to declutter items we don’t need.

Like most people this year, we decided to Marie Kondo our bedroom and living room. It felt so good to go through my closet and clear out all the things that were taking up space.

These clothes weren’t just taking up space either. They were making me dislike my closet. Constantly seeing things that I dislike was giving me a warped perception of my actual wardrobe.

Having them gone, I was able to then put my most loved clothing in one section and the maybes in another. If you’re feeling this way about your closet, I highly recommend doing this. I feel so much more organized and clear about my actual wardrobe.

I’m trying to keep these weekends as slow as possible with all the craziness that comes with being just two weeks before the main event. It feels really good to get things organized as things wrap up after a year of planning. Having my home and personal life organized and content is a nice way to keep from getting too stressed over other things. It leaves wedding planning as the only hectic factor right now.

  • For over a year a pair of Jesse Kamm pants have been on my wardrobe wish list. They were on there for so long because of the price. I tried to buy alternates but I kept coming back to this style of wide legs. So, for my fall/winter wardrobe budget I finally decided to get a pair. And I love them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
