As I started trying to better define my personal style, I started to really pay attention to what kinds of shirts I wore most frequently and what I feel most comfortable in. I always had this notion that I should have all types of shirts in my closet. Specifically saying to myself, oh I have too many button ups I should wear more blouses. And the using that way of thinking towards every type of style in my wardrobe. But why does that need to be the case? Is it really bad to have a closet that’s 70% one type of shirt? Especially if it’s what you like wearing most.
What I’ve learned about my style is that I love wearing button ups. Short sleeves or long sleeves. Really any type. I love wearing them. They’re easy, comfortable, classic with a simple masculinity to them. One of the best parts also is that they can be worn year round for any season. Even my white linen button up can be styled for winter.
Since switching to shopping more consciously and ethically, I’ve been focused on adding button ups from sustainable brands. So far, I’ve found a few that have become staples in my wardrobe. The one I’m wearing here is my Ode to Sunday linen button up which has been a summer staple.
Below you can find my five favorites! From the one I’m wearing here to my worn weekly black linen short sleeve top.
