It’s been absolutely freezing in NYC the past few days. Not as cold as the Midwest so I can’t complain too much to anyone reading this who lives there. But, as someone who has never lived more north than New York City before, it’s really cold.
My biggest problem is that I have no idea how to dress. I have a 20 minute walk to work and had no idea how I was going to be able to dress appropriately for 0 degrees.
The best part (and by best I mean worst), on top of all of this, is that I recently lost my warmest North Face coat. I’ve been wearing my J.Crew wool coat which, while warm, doesn’t quite cut it. So, dressing in comfortable layers for walking to work is a must.
This morning I made the trek in 15 degree weather and this is what I wore to make it bearable outside and for work inside sans super warm winter coat:
- White turtleneck
- Tradlands button down
- Fisherman sweater
- Black leggings
- Everlane straight leg crop pant
- Knee high leather boots tucked under pants
- Blanket scarf
- Wool jacket
- Leather gloves
I think the only other times I’ve ever had to wear this many layers was when I went to Quebec City in the beginning of February. The layers are key for not being too warm once at work.
What is your favorite way to layer when it’s below freezing?
