Finding the Perfect Jeans: What I Added to My Closet

The other week I shared a post reviewing the jeans currently in my closet. Do you ever feel unhappy with the jeans you have? You know you want something new but have no idea what it is or where to start. You also want to avoid buyers remorse. Well, to solve my problem, I analyzed the jeans I have to make a list of what I want. Today, I’m happily sharing the jeans I found that are exactly what I was hoping to find.

Finding the Perfect Pair of Jeans

I love wearing jeans. I could probably wear them everyday and be perfectly happy. It’s also a section of my closet I tend to ignore and not want to invest the money in. Which, reading this now doesn’t make sense. But, in the past I’ve never put a lot of thought into what the perfect pair of jeans would actually look like to me so I never really put effort into getting new ones.

So, in my previous post, I went through the jeans I owned to see how they fit, analyze what’s missing, and describe what I want in a new pair. The traits that I landed on for new jeans I wanted in my wardrobe were:

  • Light or dark wash
  • Straight leg or skinny
  • High waisted
  • Heavier denim
  • Ethically made (preferable but not necessary)

Everlane Jeans

What I Found & How I Found Them

I started by searching some of the ethical brands I knew sell jeans. Reformation and Everlane were my first stops. I also checked out Shopbop, Nordstrom, Levi’s and J.Crew to see what they have as well. It was super important to me to stay on budget or even under if preferable. With the holidays and a wedding coming up, I didn’t really want to dish out $200 on a pair of pants. Plus, there are so many other great and less expensive options.

I finally landed on Everlane during the $50 jeans sale and decided to order two styles that met my criteria above and see how they go. Once they arrived, I tried them on and was amazed at how much they met that vision in my head of the jeans I want to be wearing.

My original plan was to only purchase one. However, I quickly came to realize one pair wasn’t going to fill the gap. With the Everlane sale, buying these two fit nicely in my budget and provided me with two pairs of pants I plan on wearing for years.

I absolutely love the light wash of these. I don’t own anything like them currently. Also, when ordering these jeans, I wasn’t sure which size to get. I’m either a 26 or a 27 depending on the brand. Since this cut is more loose fitting, I decided to order a 26. Plus, I’m a 0 in the wide leg pants and those fit on the more baggy side. They were tight at first but stretched out to fit perfectly after one wear. I’ve been wearing these non-stop. My favorite thing about them is how the cut is cropped and adds a nice shape at the hips.

So, I already have a pair of high rise dark straight jeans that I love. However, part of my list of what was missing were a pair of dark wash, cigarette skinny, in a heavier denim. I ordered these with the Cheeky Straight jeans and said I would return them if they were too similar to the jeans I own. They were not! They’re exactly what I was hoping for. As for size, I ordered a 27 in these as they’re a skinny fit. They fit perfectly.
